Who is Andy?

Andy J. Marte is a life-long resident of District 34. Andy’s interest in community politics began at the age of 14, when he started volunteering at local non-profit events and created the Bushwick & Williamsburg Young Democrats Alliance.

He is a graduate of Georgetown University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government. At Georgetown, Andy blended his interests in government policy and sociology, gaining a deeper understanding for areas he’s passionate about, including affordable housing and clinical HIV/AIDS assistance for people in need. As an experienced substitute teacher, he immersed himself in the classroom, educating the youth and instilling confidence in his community for its members to thrive. His goal has been and continues to be able to find reasonable solutions for all people.

Andy believes that a strong education system and obtainable house options are the golden tickets to success and stability in Brooklyn. As a young boy who grew up in Bushwick, to the City Council candidate he is today, Andy’s background, dedication and commitment to his community makes him a well-rounded candidate for the role.
